2013curtain

2013 is quickly moving in on us, just under two months away, and it full of great games. God of War: Ascension, Grand Theft Auto V, Remember Me, Two Souls, Puppeteer and many, many more –  the PlayStation 3 has a staggering amount of amazing games that it has in store for us. Each one will provide great experiences that we will remember forever; but what I want to know is – which one will be the best game out of them all? Which one, when looking back at 2013, will be the one that stands out above all the others? Will Kratos rise up and take the lead or will he be shunned by someone else? Using my tools and skills in the predictions manner I will consult my fortune-telling crystal ball and reveal to all which game, at the end of 2013, is the very best of the year.

Nominee 1

God of War: Ascension

Release Date: March 2013

God of War; easily one of the biggest franchises for the modern-day Sony; possibly THE biggest for Sony. Of course people will place God of War into the conversation when talking about PS3 Game of the Year and it should be. Historically the God of War franchise has always delivered an experience that just cannot be found anywhere else and every time it is a blast to play. With production values reaching astronomical levels, God of War: Ascension will easily be one of the highest-rated games of the year, just as all the previous titles have been.

Nominee 2

Grand Theft Auto V

Release Date: Spring 2013

The legendary, loved-by-all franchise is making its return to the PlayStation 3 in 2013. Grand Theft Auto, the series that became big during the PlayStation 2-era, is coming with the 7th game in the series with Grand Theft Auto V. Promised to be full of an expansive open-world full of drugs, hookers, car chases, weapons and much more; Grand Theft Auto V will be the best of the series, but can it be best of the year?

Nominee 3

Beyond: Two Souls

Release Date: Q2 2013

The next game from the brilliant team at Quantic Dreams; the people behind Heavy Rain. This new PlayStation 3 exclusive has you playing as Jodie Holmes who has a unique best friend; a ghost. Play through Jodie’s life with her friend as they deal with major events throughout the game. Taking cues from Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls is set to be another great, engaging gaming experience.

Nominee 4

The Last of Us

Release Date: TBA 2013

Naughty Dog returns to the PlayStation 3 with their first title not in the Uncharted franchise. The Last of Us is placed to be the biggest exclusive of 2013; and possibly the entire generation for the PlayStation 3. Play through a horrific apocalypse that has ravaged the world where the remaining civilians battle each other for the scarce resources and there are monsters lurking everything to attack you.

The Last of Us

2013 is going to be a great year for PlayStation 3 owners; there is no doubt about that. A huge list of exclusive, great games coming out and triple-A 3rd party support. Though, for all the great game that we will be seeing Sony’s own Naughty Dog will be taking the crown this year for their newest title, The Last of Us. Yet again, Naughty Dog will showcase their prowess in the video game world by showing everyone what they are capable of. The Last of Us could even win in the Best Game of the Year as well. It will be that good.

its going to come down to the last of us or bioshock infinite for 2013′s game of the year

I would like to think BioShock is coming out in 2013…but for how much it has already been pushed back AND for how many high-profile staff members that they are shedding like crazy…I don’t want to get my hopes up.

I’d take BioShock Infinite over GTAV, personally.
And I do believe it will be released in 2013 without a doubt. There was new info and a new trailer a couple weeks ago.

Yep, there was new info and a trailer, but I still can’t put my money on it. We were getting new info and trailers for Duke Nukem Forever back when I was in middle school…and it was pushed back till I was out of college.

Hopefully I am wrong, but I just don’t see it.

I think The Last of Us looks shit. It just looks so incredibly boring and I bet it’s going to be a huge disappointment. God of War: Ascension is my pick for the best game of 2013 since every game in the series is a masterpiece and I expect the next game to be the best one yet. I’d replace TLoU with Bioshock Infinite and Beyond: Two Souls with Tomb Raider.

    God of War: Ascension FTW.

    gta 5 wins

    • http://www.itsagamingworld.com/ Kyle

It will be a close race, for sure, but in the end TLoU will pull it out. The problem I see with GTA 5 already, this far out before it’s release, is that it might be TOO big. There comes a time in a game where once it passes a certain size, the things within the game are not strong enough to keep us around.

I think GTA 5 is going to go way past that mark, and while there will be fun things to do in the game, it won’t be enough to keep people compelled to play it.
