Sony's 'Black Friday' Results
Sony has revealed how their video game division did over the holiday weekend from Nov 18th – Nov 24th. Over the weekend consumers purchased 525,000 PlayStation 3 units were sold in the United States.
Black Friday bundle sales increased 15%, and total PS3 sales including hardware, software and peripherals, grew 9% over the same period last year.
Latin America, which is held out of sales numbers in the states, saw a 200% increase in sales of PlayStation 3 over last year.
Not to be forgotten about, the PlayStation Vita also had a nice little increase in sales as 160,000 unites of Sony’s high-powered handheld were sold over the weekend. Sony mentioned that the special bundles of the handheld that Amazon had sold out in under five hours.
PlayStation Plus saw an increase in subscribers as Sony revealed.
Sales of PlayStation Plus subscriptions on PlayStation Network increased 259% compared to last year’s Black Friday period,” Sony states, with “customer satisfaction rates for PS Plus… above 95%.
